Contract / Hours: Permanent, Part-time 0.54 FTE (2 and a half days a week)

Are you a passionate and experienced teacher, looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact? Hope Community School, an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ school, is seeking a dedicated SENCO to join our team on a 0.5 FTE (2 and a half days per week) basis. Key Responsibilities.

  • Lead SEND Provision: Champion inclusive education, ensuring high-quality SEND support for all students.
  • Uphold Our Ethos: Foster positive relationships with parents, staff, and governors while embracing our school’s Christian values.
  • Track & Monitor Progress: Utilise data-driven approaches to assess pupil progress and tailor support effectively.
  • Secure Resources & Funding: Collaborate with the Local Authority (LA) to obtain necessary funding and resources.
  • EHCP Management: Oversee and ensure timely completion of the annual review process in line with statutory requirements.
  • Personalised Learning: Design creative, individualised learning packages and facilitate smooth transitions for students.
  • Partnership & Collaboration: Build strong relationships with parents, external agencies, and other schools to enhance student support.
  • Staff Development: Provide professional training, guidance, and support to promote inclusive teaching practices.
  • Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the school's vision and improvement plan, ensuring SEND provision aligns with strategic goals.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience of delivering high quality provision for children with SEND leadership within a school setting.
  • Proven experience of leading school improvement across a whole school setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and EHCP processes
  • QTS and a minimum of an undergraduate degree
  • National Award SENCO Qualification (or a commitment to complete this training within the first three years of taking up the post).
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and support staff in inclusive teaching practices
  • A commitment to upholding the school’s values and ethos

This position is based in Southampton and will require occasional travel to Sidcup.
